The 2023 CoopsDay Theme Unveiled

On 1 July 2023 the cooperative movement will celebrate the 101st International Day of Cooperatives. Today, the International Cooperative Alliance has unveiled this year’s theme.

On July 1st, the cooperative movement will celebrate the 2023 International Day of Cooperatives under the slogan "Cooperatives for sustainable development". The event aims to showcase how the cooperative way of working, guided by its values and principles, is deeply rooted in the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 

As we approach September 2023, which marks the mid-point in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, cooperatives play a crucial role in accelerating progress towards the SDGs. 

According to Ariel Guarco, the President of the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA), "At the mid-point of the 2030 Agenda, efforts need to be deepened, and this can only be done with more cooperation. Enterprises responsible for organising the production and distribution of goods and services must prioritise people and the planet. Cooperatives have been demonstrating this model for almost 200 years."

Cooperatives are natural vehicles of collaborative partnership and prosperity for all, contributing to economic, social, and environmental sustainability across regions and economic sectors.
