Euro Coop becomes the latest member of the EU FUSIONS Multi-Stakeholder Platform framework programme, aims to achieve a more resource efficient Europe by significantly reducing food waste.
Rodrigo Gouveia, Euro Coop’s Secretary General, commented: “Euro Coop members put sustainability at the very core of their mission and continuously improve operations to achieve better results in this field. Food waste reduction is therefore a key concern for them, and a lot has been already put in place to bring about change in food waste prevention and handling at supply chain, point of sale and consumer and post-consumer level. It is for this reason that we are delighted to join the EU FUSIONS Multi-Stakeholder Platform and we look forward to a fruitful exchange of knowledge and experience with its other members.”
The national organisations of consumer co-operatives in 18 European countries and 1 non-European country make up Euro Coop. Founded in 1957, Euro Coop today represents the interests of over 4,500 local and regional co-operatives owned by a total of 30 million consumers across Europe, employing more than 450,000 people and accounting for € 74 billion in annual turnover.
