Coop Italia Strengthens Leadership with Solid 2025 Results and New Presidency

Euro Coop congratulates its Italian member ANCC-Coop Italia following the presentation of the 2025 financial results and the appointment of Domenico Brisigotti as the new President of Coop Italia.

The transition marks the beginning of a new chapter for one of Europe’s largest consumer cooperative systems, while reaffirming the strength and resilience of the cooperative model in an increasingly challenging retail environment.

The 2025 results underline the solidity of the Coop system in Italy. The cooperative network generated a total turnover of €17 billion, including more than €15.1 billion in retail sales. Coop operates 2,237 stores across 18 Italian regions, serves 6.2 million members through 67 consumer cooperatives, and continues to rank among Italy’s three largest food retailers with a 10.9% market share. Private label products remain at the heart of the cooperative offer, generating more than €3.5 billion in sales and accounting for over 40% of total sales volumes. Employment also remained stable, with approximately 58,000 employees, more than 71% of whom are women.

The leadership transition also marks the conclusion of Maura Latini’s distinguished career within the Coop system. After 16 years in a variety of senior roles, including the Presidency of Coop Italia, she was recognised by the cooperative movement for her commitment, professionalism and contribution to strengthening the organisation’s role in the Italian economy and society.

As the newly appointed President, Domenico Brisigotti highlighted the importance of guiding Coop Italia through a rapidly evolving retail landscape, stressing that the cooperative must actively shape change rather than simply respond to it. The appointment reflects the shared commitment of the member cooperatives to reinforce Coop Italia’s strategic role in supporting purchasing, product development, quality assurance, marketing and communication on behalf of the entire cooperative network.

As one of Euro Coop’s longstanding members, ANCC-Coop Italia continues to demonstrate how consumer cooperatives can successfully combine commercial performance with democratic governance, member participation and long-term commitment to consumers and local communities. The achievements of the Italian cooperative movement further reinforce the value of the cooperative business model across Europe.

As a founding member of Euro Coop, ANCC-Coop Italia continues to play an important role in strengthening cooperation among consumer co-operatives across Europe. The positive 2025 results and the appointment of a new President reflect the ongoing commitment of the Italian consumer co-operative movement to delivering value for its members, promoting responsible retail practices and contributing to the resilience of the European co-operative sector. Euro Coop looks forward to continuing its collaboration with ANCC-Coop Italia in advancing shared priorities for consumers and cooperatives at the European level.
